Holly & Dylan

Meet Holly and her handsome gelding, Dylan. Dylan is a slightly older gentlemen but he certainly didn’t act like it! Holly does a bit of everything with Dylan and loves jumping! I met them at their yard along with mum Vicki (who purchased the shoot as a Christmas present for Holly) and their friend Amy with another pony, called Magic. The shoot also marks a whole year since Holly got Dylan!

It was a cold, sharp winter’s morning but the sun did eventually break through and clear the frost away. I arrived a little early at the yard as I wasn’t sure how long it’d take me to get there with all of the ice, so I got to see them get the horses ready. Dylan was almost ready, Holly was changing in to her first outfit: jeans and a top. The sparkles were being added to Dylan – including bling plaiting bands! Often referred to as their “Prince” it was apparent from the start that he was adored – and he had as much sparkle and bling as a Prince should have!

We began the shoot in a little paddock a little further up the drive way. The sun was just peeking over the top of the hedges and we had some beautiful light to play with. Nothing beats a winters morning – Dylan’s breath was catching in the rays. We worked through a variety of poses, being conscious of the fact Dylan was getting a little agitated he wasn’t allowed to snack on all the lush grass surrounding him. We thought at this point it would be best to move to a different location, just back on the drive way where it was gravel as opposed to grass.

Holly loved giving Dylan kisses and cuddles, even when he decided that he no longer wanted to be a model anymore and danced around a little! We popped back to the yard, Dylan had his bridle put on and Holly put on a white and navy dress. Holly suggested she might have more control of Dylan if she was on board. However, it was freezing! We tried to keep this part of the session short as poor Holly was shivering!

After walking along the drive way a little way, we headed in to a field for some more photographs. Before Holly froze, we went back for one more final outfit change. Holly changed in to her show gear and looked very smart!

Before each session I ask my clients are there any particular photographs they’d like me to capture. We tried to get as close to these shots as possible as we headed back to our favourite location: the small paddock we began in. Whilst it’s not always easy to replicate an exact shot with a different horse, we managed to get loads of photographs that Vicki and Holly both loved!

Of course, we made time for some black background images on the yard! Dylan took a bit of encouragement to get in to the stable but the photographs turned out lovely!

Thank you both for having me, and of course to Vicki for organising the vouchers for Christmas! I’m so pleased you loved the day. You’re all lovely and thank you so much for the wonderful feedback!

“Thank you Rose for a fantastic day, it went so smoothly and the results are absolutely stunning! Xx”

Vicki also commented on how informative my website was – the client area is something I’ve been working really hard on so I am really pleased it’s being used to its potential!
